Replacing Einstein-like Henry will be near impossible - NYRB's Petke

New York Red Bulls head coach Mike Petke admits it will be an enormous task to replace Thierry Henry.

The Arsenal great could quite possibly be in his final season at the Red Bull Arena and Petke believes it is near impossible to substitute a man he has described as the Albert Einstein of soccer.

"I've said many times about what he's done on the field and what he can do, which is amazing, but to have a conversation with Thierry about soccer is like talking to Albert Einstein about physics," said Petke ahead of what could be Henry's final home match for the Red Bulls this coming weekend.

"It's truly amazing, to be honest with you. I think for a long time after this, the effect of Thierry Henry is going to be felt.

"It's not necessarily a great thing, because to replace someone like him if, if, this is his last year will be I don't want to say impossible, but pretty damn near impossible."

French legend Henry has made an unbelievable impact at the Red Bulls since arriving from Barcelona in 2010 and Petke hopes he can continue that influence as the 2014 MLS play-offs loom near.

"You remember, you take whatever you can from his time here and you cherish the memories, to be honest with you," added Petke.

"The fans as well. Hopefully this isn't his last year, but if it is, they should enjoy this last game and hopefully couple more play-offs games after that."
