Relieved Megson as Wednesday win at Tranmere

Sheffield Wednesday boss Gary Megson was grateful for the hard fought 2-1 success at Tranmere. Wednesday had to come from behind for the three points which keeps their League One promotion aspirations on course.

"That is as hard a three points as we will earn all season," said Megson. "It really was a tough, tough game. But we ground it out and we deserved the victory in the end because we took the game to them in the second half.

"We conceded a poor goal but got back into it at a vital time just before the break. We stood up to most things they threw at us. They were the better side in the first half but we were the better side in the second with a shot count of 8-2 in our favour.

"The results lifts everybody. It is magnificent," added Megson who admitted he could go into the loan market in the near future.
