Emerson has joined Santos after leaving AC Milan at the end of last season.

Santos showed the most interest with new manager Vanderlei Luxemburgo making a particular effort to sign him.

"There were other interested clubs, but Emerson preferred Santos for the long-term project of Luxemburgo and the central role he will have in the squad," Adilson Durante, Santos' director of sport, told Il Corriere dello Sport.
