Reid praises West Ham fans for Upton Park atmosphere

Winston Reid was grateful to the West Ham United faithful for creating an atmosphere conducive to a brilliant comeback win at Upton Park.

The East London club marked their final match at the venue with a scintillating 3-2 victory over Manchester United on Tuesday night to bring to a close a 112-year relationship with the Boleyn Ground.

The Hammers faithful were at their parochial best to help the team get over the line prompting match-winner Reid, who scored with an 80th-minute header, to acknowledge their support.

"It was just meant to be tonight. It is brilliant for us," he said.

"It was the best atmosphere we have played in.

"The fans have been with us through the good times and the bad times."
