West Ham United defender Winston Reid was delighted to lead the club to victory at Stoke City.
The New Zealand centre-back told of his pride at being handed the captaincy by manager Sam Allardyce.
"It's a great privilege," said Reid, who has started all 28 league games this season, to whufc.com. "We have Kevin as a great captain and Mark right after him, so if I can do a job when they are not available then it is fine by me. Otherwise, I just go about my business as usual and don't try to really change myself.
"As a captain, I just try to give 100 per cent and try to help out my team-mates. I try to be a good role model and try to do my best and encourage everyone to try their hardest and be a winner."
