Reid fears West Brom will bear brunt of backlash from Man Utd ace Rooney

West Bromwich Albion midfielder Steven Reid fears Wayne Rooney is ready to catch fire for Manchester United tomorrow.

The Irish star, 29, is set to be called into a West Brom defence hit by injury and suspension against unbeaten Manchester United at The Hawthorns.

Reid could slot in at right-back and Rooney may play out left again as he did against Birmingham. And he said: "Maybe Rooney's not hit the heights he did last season but he's a dangerous animal.

"It's only a matter of time that he scores from open play - he's still one of the best players in the world."
