Peter Reid is excited about seeing former club Everton back in Europe next season.
The former Everton captain won the Cup Winners' Cup with the Toffees in 1985 and told evertonTV: "European nights are fantastic.
"The last time we were in the UEFA Cup, it was disappointing and we all know that.
"But I was there for the Villarreal game in the Champions League and the atmosphere was brilliant. Hopefully we will be a lot stronger this time around."
The Blues will be aiming to build on last season's sixth place Premier League finish as well as making inroads in Europe and Reidy knows that success will mean a lot more matches to play.
"There are going to be a lot of fixtures and I think David (Moyes) might need another striker and a wide man who can get past people - but where you get them from is a hard job, but David can do that.
"A big squad is needed. You are going to get injuries and suspensions over the course of the season and players need to be rested at times."
