Former Aston Villa striker Cyrille Regis is convinced manager Martin O'Neill will bring success to Villa Park.
Regis said: "I played for Martin and I know his style. He is a fantastic motivator. I played under him in for a year when I was 37. We did a deal in seven minutes.
"I sat down with Martin in Warwick and I was delighted to sign for him. He had taken Wycombe from non-league to a very impressive league side.
"He had a good reputation even back then as being a super manager and it was fantastic to play for him.
"He had also signed Simon Garner and I think we were the oldest strike partnership in the league at the time. Martin wasn't scared of age because he knew we could do a good job.
"I thoroughly enjoyed working with him. What stood out were his motivational skills.
"He is super with his players but he is also disciplined as well, which is what you need. He keeps you on your toes."
