Referee's performance was a 'waste of time and money' - Chelsea's Mourinho

Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho felt referee Bjorn Kuipers had a subpar performance on Wednesday night.

The Dutch referee made a number of blunders in the Champions League Round of 16 second leg at Stamford Bridge which the Blues drew 2-2 with Paris Saint-Germain.

The French giants eliminated Mourinho's Chelsea from the competition by virtue of away goals after a 3-3 aggregate in a contest littered with massive moments, most of which Kuipers got wrong.

One such instance was when Diego Costa was brought down by Edinson Cavani in the first half in what appeared to a be a clear penalty missed by the match official.

"It's a clear penalty on Diego Costa and once more I think it's a waste of time and money to have the officials on the side of the goal. Normally they do nothing," said Mourinho who hinted at bringing in video technology to help with such decisions

"If he's there just to see if the ball crossed the line, the goal-line technology is obviously much better.

"If he cannot see a penalty 10 metres in front of him where it's completely clean in front of him, it's a waste of time and a waste of money."
