Ref Martin Hansson admits he was wrong to award Liverpool a match-saving penalty against Atletico Madrid on Tuesday.

Ref Martin Hansson admits he was wrong to award Liverpool a match-saving penalty against Atletico Madrid on Tuesday.

The Swede gifted Steven Gerrard an injury-time leveller against Atletico Madrid on Tuesday, despite a soft challenge from Mariano Pernia.

And he allegedly told Swedish TV station SVT after the game: “From my angle, I am not convinced that it is a penalty but according to UEFA rules I’m not allowed to make any comment on specific match incidents.”
