Contrary to media reports, Mark Clattenburg has not been axed from the list of referees for this weekend's Premier League games.
It had been reported that Clattenburg had been pulled from the list for the weekend, with his decision to send Sir Alex Ferguson from the touchline during Manchester United's defeat to Bolton on Saturday cited as the reason behind the decision.
However, Clatternburg is ineligible due to Uefa Cup commitments.
A Uefa directive is in place which prevents referees from taking charge of games on a Saturday if they are in action on a Thursday and this is the reason for Clattenburg not being in action at the weekend.
action at Hamburg on Thursday and so is not available," a Premier League spokesman told setantasports.com.
"The same situation applies to players, as they cannot play in games on a Saturday if they are in action on Thursday."
