Redknapp: World Cup was making of Tottenham's dos Santos

Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp believes Giovani dos Santos needs to build on his impressive World Cup exploits in South Africa. The 21 year old put two seasons of loan deals to Ipswich Town and Galatasaray behind in South Africa to be nominated for the young player of the tournament award.

This was in sharp contrast to his indifferent form at White Hart Lane which saw him frozen out of the first team.

Speaking to the club's official website, Redknapp praised the attacker's transformation and backed him to make a big impact next term.

He said: "He's come back from the World Cup in great form.

"The World Cup will have done him the world of good and his attitude has been spot on.

"I've been pleased with him all pre-season.

"He's got outstanding ability, the ability to be a top, top player. He is clever, goes at defenders and has great close control.

"He's a nice lad, a young lad and there is a chance for him now. It's up to him."
