Redknapp: Tottenham kids not yet ready

Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp says his kids aren't ready to go down the Arsenal route and play from the start in the Carling Cup.

He took five rookies to Holland for last week's UEFA Cup tie against NEC Nijmegen and two - John Obika and Ryan Mason - came on as late substitutes.

Redknapp is set to rest some of his senior players in the quarter-final at Watford but has resisted the temptation to raid his youth team and plans to take an experienced squad to Vicarage Road.

Redknapp said: "Arsenal have so many 19 and 20-year-olds who are fantastic, they can play them.

"How many more teams can afford to do that? None."

The Carling Cup holders will reach the semi-finals for the third successive year if they win but Redknapp said: "League points are the most important thing to us with the position we are in. It has got to be that way."
