After victory over Aston Villa, Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp admits he hopes they can secure Luka Modric to a new deal.
Chelsea remain keen on the Croatian playmaker.
Asked if there was any news on Modric's contract, Redknapp said: "I don't know where the chairman is. I don't really get involved in that.
"You've got to keep Luka here. You don't get too many Luka Modrics coming along and we are looking to really be a big club.
"The chairman showed that in the summer. He said he's not going and he stuck by it.
"I am sure he will look after him and hopefully get the contract sorted."
