Redknapp: Some Spurs fans wanted to lose to Villa

Harry Redknapp admits he was gobsmacked that some Tottenham fans didn't want them to beat Aston Villa on Sunday.

Jermaine Jenas and Darren Bent helped Spurs to a 2-1 win at Villa Park, which left their north London rivals Arsenal in the driving seat in the chase for fourth place and qualification for the Champions League.

White Hart Lane boss Redknapp revealed afterwards that a small number of fans would have been unhappy with the win.

"Some Tottenham fans said to me, 'I hope we don't win at Villa'," revealed Redknapp. "I have never heard such c**p in all my life.

"I've said all along that I fancy Arsenal for fourth. They've got players coming back, like (Theo) Walcott and (Cesc) Fabregas. They are at another level, in my opinion."
