Harry Redknapp is proud of what he did for Tottenham fans during his time in charge.
Redknapp insisted it was the reaction of Tottenham's fans and their former players that gave him greatest satisfaction.
He told the Daily Mail: "I had fellas like Cliff Jones, Alan Mullery and Martin Chivers coming up to me after games and they would say, 'Harry, the football, it's fantastic'. You're talking about guys who won the Double, great players who captained their country and really knew the history of the club. If I was pleasing people like that, I knew I was doing something right.
"On Wednesday when I came up to London to meet the chairman, I got into a taxi and the driver was a huge Tottenham fan. We talked football the whole way and at the end he wouldn't take any money. Just wanted a picture. I'm not finished. I'll be fed up within a week. I want to get back in the game
"Then it happened again, same thing. Next taxi, Spurs fan, no money, just a picture. And again the next time. Finally, by the time we had sorted everything out it was 3.30am. The taxi driver was a West Ham man - and even he didn't want paying. I do think that if the people who watch football every week like what you are doing, then that is the greatest compliment. Maybe there are some people who get success and then expect it every year, but I can't help that. The sensible people will take the circumstances into account and I don't think I let anyone down.
"People talk about the speculation around the England job but I don't think that was anything to do with it - the club wants to go in a different direction now, that's all, and I have to accept it. In the end, I'm fine. I don't feel sorry for myself, I had four fantastic years and absolutely loved every minute. We beat AC Milan in the San Siro - we put three goals past Inter Milan at White Hart Lane. It couldn't have gone better, really.
"Of course I feel disappointed that it has ended like this, but football can be tough. At West Ham there were three seasons when we finished above Tottenham but I left there, too. People who own the club make their decisions, that is their right and you can't bear a grudge. I don't worry about what might have been had we finished third, because I don't think it mattered."
