REDKNAPP REVEALS: McClaren set to be appointed by Newcastle

Harry Redknapp has revealed that Newcastle United are on the verge of appointing Steve McClaren as their new manager.

The 54-year old former England manager has been heavily linked with the St James' Park post recently and that speculation grew rife after the club parted ways with interim boss John Carver earlier on Tuesday.

Now former West Ham United, Tottenham and QPR boss suggests McClaren will be the man to take the reins in the north east following a near-disastrous campaign for the Magpies who only just avoided relegation last term.

McClaren, who parted ways with Derby County at the end of last season, is expected to be unveiled by Newcastle sometime this week.
