Former Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp says Real Madrid star Gareth Bale will soon be regarded as the best in the world.

Despite being overtaken by Manchester United's Paul Pogba as the world's most expensive player, Bale's former Spurs manager believes he will take the top title by the end of the season.

Redknapp, a BT pundit for the Champions League campaign, said: “Gareth is a real superstar. He is the best all-rounder and I see him using the Champions League to show he is the best player."

Redknapp admits he was wrong to think that Bale would be overshadowed by Ronaldo at Real.

He said: “I reckon Gareth will take over as Real's talisman and move to a new level."
