Redknapp: No Spurs move for Portsmouth keeper James

Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp has rejected reports he's keen on Portsmouth goalkeeper David James.

"I've never been linked to David James," Redknapp told Sky Sports News.

"Because he plays for Portsmouth and I signed him everybody is linking me. I've not made any (offer).

"(Portsmouth chief executive) Peter Storrie is a very good friend of mine, if I was interested in David I'd ring him up. I've never mentioned David James.

"The only contact we've had with Portsmouth is over Jermain Defoe. We asked if they were willing to sell him and they are, but at the right price.

"It had nothing to do with anyone else."
