Redknapp: Mourinho tactics stop flair players joining Man Utd

Jose Mourinho's defensive tactics will deter flair players from wanting to join Manchester United, former Tottenham midfielder Jamie Redknapp has claimed.

The Portuguese has come under fire this season for United's underwhelming performances, which culminated in a Champions League last-16 exit following a 2-0 home loss to Sevilla.

Paul Pogba - as well as Juan Mata and Anthony Martial - were brought on as substitutes in the match as Mourinho preferred Marouane Fellaini over the club's record signing.

And Redknapp believes players will be put off joining United thanks to the 55-year-old's tactics.

"Some might say it's the biggest club in the world, but if you're looking at going to play for Manchester United and you're a flair player - do you really want to go there at the moment with the way that they play?," said Redknapp.

"You won't be looking at it saying 'that's a team I want to play for'- there's just no enjoyment in their play. It doesn't sit well with the fans and that's why I think they'll miss out on some good players."
