Redknapp: Man Utd must stop Van Persie taking corners

Former Liverpool star Jamie Redknapp feels Manchester United are missing a trick allowing Robin van Persie to take their corners.

Van Persie headed home the winner against Arsenal yesterday from Wayne Rooney's corner.

Redknapp told the Daily Mail: "Sir Alex Ferguson used to say that Manchester United didn't work on corners, but they put extra time into set-pieces for this game. Arsenal missed having Per Mertesacker in there. Wayne Rooney's corner kick was angled in at pace and that was where Mertesacker would have attacked the ball. Van Persie's leap, however, makes me wonder why he takes so many corners.

"The stats say it is only the third time he has scored from a corner since joining Manchester United, but that's because he ends up taking so many of them. Get him in the box where he can do maximum damage!"
