QPR boss Harry Redknapp is at loggerheads with his board over a deal for released Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand.
The People says QPR boss Redknapp wants Ferdinand to add experience to his back line and is urging club chiefs to offer him a one-year contract worth £80,000 a week.
But chairman Tony Fernandes, co-owner Amit Bhatia and chief executive Phil Beard are not yet convinced.
They want to avoid a repeat of the calamitous campaign of two years ago when they spent huge money on transfer fees and wages and were then relegated.
They would prefer to bring in Nottingham Forest's Jamaal Lascelles
