Redknapp: Kanu crucial for Portsmouth

Portsmouth boss Harry Redknapp says Nwankwo Kanu is a crucial part of his team plans.

Redknapp said: "Kanu holds the ball up and brings people into play. We needed to keep it more in the last 15 minutes and that's why I brought him on but it was nice to see the big man score.

"He has problems with his knees but he's okay, although we still need to nurse him through a bit. I've got Milan (Baros) now, but not Defoe for the cup and I don't want to kill off Kanu between now and the semi-final because he's important to us in bits and pieces."
