Portsmouth boss Harry Redknapp admits son Jamie had a say in him turning down Newcastle United.
"I thought: 'Yeh, f*** it, let's get on with it.
"And there is no way I am going to regret my decision. Whatever happens life moves on and you f****** do it.
"Look at Big Sam. He was loved at Bolton but then he moved to Newcastle.
"Suddenly he loses a couple of games and people are saying he doesn't know what he's doing. Well he did know what he was doing - he's a good manager.
"And it crossed my mind that could be me down the line.
"Someone said to me on Saturday: 'Fergie's Manchester United, Wenger's Arsenal and you are Portsmouth.'
"For sure, I respected the fact that Mike Ashley wanted me.
"I am sure he would be a great bloke to work for - but in the end it wasn't to be."
