Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp made a statement on his first day of training by giving squad numbers to five players exiled under Juande Ramos. Hossam Ghaly, Adel Taarabt, Kevin-Prince Boateng, Paul Stalteri and Ricardo Rocha had been told by the former Spurs chief that they were excluded from first-team training.

Redknapp, who is on a £1million bonus to keep Spurs in the Barclays Premier League, made the dramatic change the moment he arrived for training at Chigwell. Stalteri has been given the No 13 shirt, Ghaly 15, Taarabt 19, Boateng 23 and Rocha 33.
