Former Tottenham and Liverpool star Jamie Redknapp has hailed the form of Newcastle United captain Fabricio Coloccini this season.

In his column for the Daily Mail, Redknapp wrote: "The most improved defender in England is Newcastle's Fabricio Coloccini, who has been on Tyneside since 2008. He was terrific against Everton as his team continue to progress and delight, with 50,000 there on Saturday.

"He was so laid back when he first came, like David Luiz at Chelsea now, but has become a proper defender. The big question is: can Newcastle keep him?"
