Harry Redknapp has revealed how Paul Gascoigne agreed to join Manchester United back in 1988.
Redknapp made the claim in his new book 'It Shouldn't Happen to a Manager'.
Serialised in the Daily Star, he wrote: “Archie Gemmill negotiated a television and carpets from Nottingham Forest for his front room, but even that does not match the sweeteners that helped to secure Paul Gascoigne's move from Newcastle to Tottenham in 1988.
“He had verbally agreed to sign for Sir Alex Ferguson at Manchester United when he got a call from Tottenham.
“They offered to buy a house for his mum and dad.
“His dad's request for a garage was also met.
“Then his sister came on to make sure a sunbed got thrown in too."
