Redknapp frustrated by Falcao decision to join Chelsea

Jamie Redknapp believes Radamel Falcao will only be a bench player at Chelsea.

The Colombian striker has completed a season-long loan from Monaco but former Liverpool midfielder Redknapp believes he will not receive much playing time with the Premier League champions.

Falca, who struggled on loan with Manchester United last season, will be Chelsea's third-choice striker behind Diego Costa and Loic Remy at Stamford Bridge which shows Redknapp he has a lack of ambition as an individual.

"He's going to find himself on the bench an awful lot next year," Redknapp told Sky Sports News HQ.

"I watched Radamel Falcao in his Atletico Madrid days and he was one of the best centre forwards I think I've ever seen.

"Now he's gone to Chelsea and probably what Chelsea need is a striker that's going to be happy not to play, and maybe have to fill in at times when there is an injury, because you look at the players he's going to be contending with like Diego Costa, who is going to be first choice.

"I think every Chelsea fan knows that. Then they've got Loic Remy.

"So what he (Falcao) is saying is 'I'm happy to come and I'm happy to be part of the squad'. "I find that a little frustrating, really. I think he's a better player than that."
