Redknapp fears Spurs top four hopes gone due to Champions League

Tottenham's top four hopes could be scuppered by their Champions League campaign, admits manager Harry Redknapp.

With expectations rising following Tottenham's success last season Redknapp has suddenly found the European boot is very firmly on the other foot. Spurs are the target for the Euro profiteers.

Redknapp, whose men face FC Twente on Wednesday in their first home Champions League tie, said: "It's going to be much harder to maintain our form in the league playing in the Champions League.

"That is why I have so much admiration for teams like Manchester United, Chelsea and Arsenal who have been successful for years.

"It's not easy, it's a juggling act particularly when you have players like Ledley King who can't play back-to-back games in the league and Champions League.

"Suddenly you have to prioritise and that isn't easy when you are under pressure to be successful on two fronts.

"Success always increases expectations so you are not going to get much sympathy either."
