Former Liverpool midfielder Jamie Redknapp has compared Tottenham starlet Dele Alli with his former teammate Steve Gerrard.

The 19-year-old Spurs midfielder has impressed many with his form so far this campaign, while also earning a call-up to the England national team in the process.

Redknapp believes Alli possesses a number of the qualities that made Gerrard a Liverpool and England great.

"I can't tell you how impressed I am with Dele Alli, as a midfield player, a young player, how exciting he is," Redknapp told Sky Sports.

"He plays with no fear. We were lucky enough to play with Steven Gerrard and he's the closest thing I've seen to Stevie.

"This kid is fantastic, he's got so many good years ahead of him."
