Redknapp disappointed to miss Chelsea chance

Former Liverpool and Tottenham midfielder Jamie Redknapp admits he would have liked to have joined Chelsea's coaching panel this season.

"No I didn't [get a call from Chelsea]," he told Metro. "I know Avram (Grant) from his time at Portsmouth and he and my dad are friends.

"It would have been a great offer but it never came I'm afraid.

"I'll be honest, we've had a few conversations [himself and Harry] but I think he's very happy with the coaching team there at the moment.

"Tony Adams is doing a great job as his assistant. Tony's good for dad and dad's good for Tony.

"I always thought I would [go into coaching]," he revealed. "But I've got to say it's not a burning ambition.

"That worries me because most of the people I know who've gone into management have that desire and I don't so I'm not sure.

"In three or four years, who knows?"
