Tottenham and Portsmouth are talking over a possible deal reuniting Pompey striker Jermaine Defoe with Spurs boss Harry Redknapp. But Redknapp has denied any wrongdoing in his pursuit of his former player.
"The chairman and Peter (Storrie, Portsmouth executive chairman) are talking, so if they want to do a deal then they will," Redknapp said.
"(If) Defoe has got reasons he wants to leave and come back to Tottenham where he played before. Fine. But if we can't agree a deal then we don't take him," added Redknapp.
"If Portsmouth don't want to sell him, they just say 'no he is not for sale'. It is quite easy.
"If they want to sell and they want the money then they'll sell him, otherwise they will keep him."
