Birmingham City boss Harry Redknapp has defended David Moyes following Sunderland's relegation.
Redknapp has told BBC Radio 5 Live that he knew the Black Cats were doomed from the start of the season.
He said: "I knew Sunderland would get relegated at the start of the year.
"That's not David's fault.
"He took over a squad that had struggled to stay up for five years running, bought no good players in. They're going to go down this year sure enough and it doesn't matter who would've gone in there.
"David Moyes is a top manager, you could have put [Antonio] Conte in there and he wouldn't have kept Sunderland up either."
