Redknapp: Current Man Utd, Arsenal nothing like past teams

Former Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp says the current Arsenal and Manchester United teams are far from matching their recent best.

Redknapp wrote for the London Evening Standard: "People talk about Arsenal having a better defence now but I'd rather have Lee Dixon, Steve Bould, Tony Adams and Nigel Winterburn. Plus players like Emmanuel Petit, Patrick Vieira and Dennis Bergkamp.

"The same goes for United. David de Gea is the only one playing to a consistent high level — but I'm not sure you'd even put him in place of Peter Schmeichel. The team with Roy Keane, Paul Scholes, David Beckham, Ryan Giggs had so much quality. This side doesn't compare."
