Former Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp says securing Gareth Bale to a new deal was crucial for the club.
Redknapp oversaw the Welshman's development at White Hart Lane.
He told The Sun: "He is a great player. Not only is he a great player, he is a top-class boy.
"He will go on and become one of the great players in world football. He will be the best left-sided player, for sure."
