QPR boss Harry Redknapp has confirmed interest in Anzhi defender Christopher Samba.
Redknapp admitted he is an admirer of the Congo international but that all of the transfer dealings are now in the hands of the club's chairman Tony Fernandes.
"We are struggling a bit, we lose Ryan Nelsen now and I haven't got a replacement," he said.
"We are desperately short. The chairman is dealing with it (Samba deal) I don't know where we are at with it.
"He (Fernandes) asked me about a week ago if I would be interested if he could get me Samba and I said of course, he is a fantastic competitor."
