Former Tottenham star Jamie Redknapp says Arsenal's two-goal hero Robin van Persie was unlucky not to 'do a Hoddle' in victory over Sunderland.

Redknapp wrote in the Daily Mail: "There was a moment on Sunday when Robin van Persie reminded me of Glenn Hoddle's famous goal for Spurs against Watford in 1983. The one that was replayed endlessly on Match of the Day and now YouTube.

"Hoddle takes a pass in the box, turns and clips a shot over Steve Sherwood, like a golfer with a pitching wedge. The only difference with the exceptional RVP is that his audacious effort sadly came back off the woodwork."
