Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp admits their youth development system still has some ground to make up on Arsenal.
Spurs face Arsenal in tomorrow's North London derby and Redknapp says there's still a lot that needs to be done at White Hart Lane for them to match the Gunners.
He wrote in his column for The Sun: "My captain Robbie Keane said the other day he felt Tottenham had more strength in depth than Arsenal.
"Well, after watching Arsenal beat Liverpool in the Carling Cup, I can tell you their kids are scary.
"The reason Arsenal keep finding these kids is simple - they have full-time scouts in virtually every country in Europe and their network of talent-spotters spreads a lot further and a lot wider than that. One of the biggest success stories for home-grown talent in recent years has been Manchester United with Beckham, Ryan Giggs, Paul Scholes, Nicky Butt and the two Nevilles.
"Following United, you have to look at players who have hit the big time after being groomed at West Ham with the likes of Rio Ferdinand, Frank Lampard, Joe Cole, Michael Carrick, Glen Johnson and Jermain Defoe. It's a real possibility that those half-dozen will be at the World Cup. It would be an incredible achievement for any one club to develop six players to take part in the biggest football show on Earth.
"It's no good just looking for talented kids in the local area of clubs, either. It's now spread far beyond that - as Arsenal have successfully proved."
