Reddy expecting big things with Sydney FC

Sydney FC recruit Liam Reddy is expecting big things with his new club.

The former Newcastle Jets, Brisbane Roar and Wellington Phoenix goalkeeper will return to his hometown for the next A-League season and two more after that and he believes he has come to the club at the perfect time.

''This club isn't happy to settle for top-six finishes or anything like that, they want to win things every year,'' Reddy said yesterday. ''They've got a great coaching staff and structure at the club and that was a major drawcard for me. This club wants to achieve things and I want to win a major competition so that was the major reason I've come here.

''But [it's] also about returning home. I'm a Sydney boy and I've been away for five years now so it's fantastic for me to come home and play in front of family and friends.''

And Reddy does not plan to live in the shadow of departing keeper Clint Bolton who helped the Sky Blues take this season's double on his way to the Melbourne Heart.

''Clint's been a fantastic player for the club for the past five years,'' Reddy said. ''But I'm my own person and I hope to achieve what Clint's achieved this past year - winning the double and having a fantastic year.''
