Nemanja Vidic has had his appeal for a red card turned down by an Independent Regulatory Commission.
The Manchester United centre-half was sent off late in his side's 3-1 loss to Chelsea on Sunday for a challenge on Eden Hazard and was subsequently banned for three matches.
Vidic and United felt the decision from referee Phil Dowd was harsh so appealed the sanction but the Football Association has confirmed that the plea has been rejected meaning the Serbian will miss Wednesday night's Capital One Cup semi-final against Sunderland as well as Premier League fixtures with Cardiff City and Stoke City.
