Red Bull Salzburg striker Mark Janko wanted by Wigan

Red Bull Salzburg striker Mark Janko is interesting Wigan Athletic boss Steve Bruce.

Bruce sees the Austria international as a potential replacement for Emile Heskey, who could be sold this month.

Bruce said: "I will probably be doing some business next month, but we don't want to lose anyone.

"We are building a fabulous squad at Wigan and I don't want to dismantle it.

"But I am mindful that the big clubs are out there, looking at our players and maybe weighing up offers for some of them.

"It just shows you how far this club has come that the giants of world football are looking at our players.

"But I want to keep hold of them and add to the squad if I can."
