Red Bull New York secure John Wolyniec to new contract

Red Bull New York announced Monday that it has signed forward John Wolyniec to a new contract. Per MLS and club regulations, specific terms of the deal were not disclosed.

"We are excited to have John back for the 2009 season," said Sporting Director Jeff Agoos. "With his hard work and dedication to the club, John has become a fan favourite during his multiple stints here. We look forward to his future contribution as a leader on and off the field."

Wolyniec, who was out of contract at the end of last season, is in the midst of his fourth stint with the Red Bulls. The Staten Island, NY native was instrumental in the Red Bulls' 2008 run to their first-ever MLS Cup Final, starting in all four playoff games and notching two goals and one assist in the playoffs. Wolyniec has the distinction of being the first player in club history to score in the MLS Cup Final in New York's 3-1 loss against the Columbus Crew at The Home Depot Center last November.
