Really? Tottenham boss Pochettino blames Brexit for dismal market

Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino has blamed Brexit for their abysmal summer market.

Spurs became the first Premier League club not to make a signing in the summer transfer window this year.

Pochettino, 46, admitted he is happy with the current squad ahead of their move into their new stadium next month.

And he pointed to Britain's decision to leave the single market as one of the reasons why there is less value out there and less temptation to buy new players.

Poch said: "Building a stadium that is nearly £1billion.

"That is true, don't believe in £400million, that is the truth.

"And then with Brexit it is worse because the cost is 30 per cent more, and then keep the best players.

"For me [that] is to be brave. Of course maybe in the mind of everyone they will say 'Oh Tottenham didn't sign' — but to sign for the sake of signing?"
