Real Zaragoza winger Jermaine Pennant has made no secret of his hope of signing permanently with Stoke City.
A deal could be struck for the on-loan midfielder in next month's market.
Pennant said: "I think I've got about 10 days left before I go back, and nothing has been sorted that I know of.
"A letter has been sent out saying they've got to sort out proceedings for me to go back on January 1 because they've got a game the next day.
"It's probably going to go to the wire, like when I first came to the club back in August. I hope it doesn't take that long because I'd certainly prefer to get it sorted before the January window opens.
"But I'm not getting too frustrated because I've been in the game a long time now.
"When there's a transfer deal between two clubs there is always bartering back and forth."
