Real Zaragoza are moving for Sunderland defender Paulo da Silva.
The Paraguay international has seen a move to Mexico's Cruz Azul fall through this month.
Zaragoza's Mexican coach Javier Aguirre knows all about Da Silva and wants to bring the centre-half to Spain in January.
Cruz Azul haven't ended their pursuit, but Zaragoza have the greater spending power to match Da Silva's personal demands.
