Real Sociedad midfielder Sergio Canales admits his time with Real Madrid was frustrating.

Canales returns to his former club today.

"I have a good memory of my time at Real Madrid, both of the club and the supporters," he told El Transistor.

"It helped me to grow and I learned a lot during my time there, although there aren't many [players] left from my spell at the club.

"I was just a kid and it was a squad where some of them just did their own thing personally.

"But I must say there were people who surprised me, who I was close to and who helped me a lot, like Sergio Ramos, Xabi Alonso, Alvaro Arbeloa, Antonio Adan and Gonzalo Higuain."
