Real Sociedad midfielder Sergio Canales did NOT reject a deadline day move to Aston Villa.
It was claimed Canales had turned down the deal after Villa had offered £7 million for the former Real Madrid and Valencia midfielder.
However, Noticias de Guipuzkoa says Villa never made a bid for the Spain U21 international.
Villa did approach Real about a price for Canales, but were referred to his €30 million buyout clause.
The Premier League club refused to consider meeting the valuation and instead turned to Manchester United midfielder Tom Cleverley, whose loan deal was completed last night.
