In the world of stadium development naming the stadium and the rights attached is becoming a big revenue earner for clubs worldwide. When the drum roll came today for Real Salt Lake's new stadium many across the world may have asked "umm who?"

"Welcome to Rio Tinto Stadium" the headlines said, so we did a bit of delving and are still some what in the dark.

Rio Tinto, is the parent company to Kennecott Utah Copper, Kennecott Land Company and Kennecott Exploration, has signed a multi-year naming rights agreement with Real Salt Lake and now a lot of us around the world are aware of Rio Tinto, what they really do is another matter.
