Real Mallorca midfielder Marvin Ogunjimi happy with Standard Liege move

Standard Liege have signed Real Mallorca midfielder Marvin Ogunjimi on a season-long loan.

Ogunjimi revealed that his meeting with new Liege coach Ron Jans was critical to his decision to join the club following his unhappy time in Spain.

"It was important to know who would become the coach here. The meeting with Ron Jans was crucial," he said.

"At Mallorca I had to fight against a wall, and it's difficult to end it as a winner.

"I had other options as well, but Standard was the best choice for me.

"We won't play in Europe but for just one season that won't be a catastrophe. I hope I can teach the younger players something, even though I am only 24 myself.

"And of course I want to score goals."
