Real Mallorca have signed Bordeaux striker Fernando Cavenaghi.
The Argentine has joined Mallorca on a season-long loan.
"I didn't want to leave Bordeaux without the club getting some money back," he told L'Equipe. "I had a great relationship with the chairman (Jean-Louis Triaud) and that is why I accepted a one-year extension.
"I won everything at Bordeaux, but now is the right time to leave.
"There is no link between my departure and new coach Jean Tigana. I told the chairman that Tigana is a very good coach and I like the way he works.
"But, despite an offer from England, I wanted to move to Spain. I have always dreamt of playing in La Liga.
"When the Mallorca offer arrived, I had no hesitation and didn't need to be asked twice. I decided to seize this new challenge.
"I would have liked to have stayed at Bordeaux, to say goodbye properly, but I will always hold fond memories of my time at the club and of the fans."
